Dasher!

I realized I haven't put Dasher pics up in a long time! I snapped this one before Colton's pics this afternoon. August Ann always wants to know if she is dead! We've had some trouble with keeping dogs alive! Of course the free mut we brought back from Mississippi will live forever! We love our little Dashie, even if she does have a HUGE tongue and never keeps it in her mouth :)

Fabulous Flowers and other happenings!

I honestly can't believe they survived, I planted them way too early, and we had a few cold snaps, but they are really flourishing! I have to tell you, I do not have a green thumb! I have killed PLENTY of flowers in my day! You can just imagine what the Farmer said after I came home with $150 worth of flowers...I ignored his sneers and said, you have corn, I have flowers! He may or may not have said something to the effect of "I don't kill my corn!" or the ever popular "corn makes money!" Nevertheless, I spent all day planting my meticulously picked out blooms, only to have it hail that night!!! Like I said, no green thumb!! Well I was just sure I didn't have the gardening gift...but turns out, I do!! These flowers are gorgeous and I just can't wait to water them everyday...apparently they need it to live!! hehe!! The pics below are of the ones in front of the house...I forgot to take pics of the ones on the deck, so these will have to suffice!

Last night we went to our friends Cora and Darren's to watch the Biggest Loser Finale. Cora and I are borderline obsessed with the show..the boys tolerate it!! It was soo fun, and I made some yummy mini brie bites! I forgot to take pics {gasp} but click here for the super easy recipe! Oh and I made a really tasty salsa too (click here) that I think I will definitely make again! I am still trying to decide if I am ok with Michael winning...he was never my fave, and the rhinestone encrusted skull belt buckle he was sporting last night just put me over the edge! I realize it's not a fashion show, but PLEASE, give me a break!! I was really rooting for Ashley, but then didn't care for her look last night either, so last minute I kinda wanted Daris to win...hmmmm guess I will just have to accept it and move on :)

Earlier today I went to the Farm to be interviewed! What? Like you didn't know I was a big deal!?!? Ok, well it wasn't actually me getting interviewed..details, details! They were interviewing the family for an article about being a Century Farm. That's me in the turquoise, and that's the Farmer behind me..the TALL one ;) This was the honor the farm received in 2008 at the Iowa State Fair...ohh and coincidentally this is also when the Farmer asked me to marry him (I said yes!!!) not on the stage..on the sky glider!
yes that thing...I still can't believe I even got on it, but I'm glad I did!!! Anyway, where was I? Oh yes the interview...so this lady came and took pics and asked all about the Farm and it's history. I will let yall know when the piece comes out :)
Well I am off to take Colton's 1 year portraits! He has just started walking so this should be FUN!!!

Baby Update!

I was dying for a Diet Dr. Pepper this afternoon, so the Farmer and I decided to go grab one, then check on the baby! All those bedtime stories must have paid off, because it's growing..or emerging, as the Farmer says...so technical!! I didn't have my big girl camera with me, so I snapped this shot with my phone!
so exciting to see all my farming has paid off...haha!

Busy week ahead...I have to edit pics from the wedding I photographed yesterday (so fun!), do a one year old photo shoot, work on our church's website, and most importantly get ready for Lacie's big wedding weekend!! I can't believe it's almost here! My office is full of fun stuff for her girl's night (can you believe I actually haven't spilled all the fabulous details yet!?! you'll just have to wait!)

My friend Tracey, who lives in South Dakota, is coming here Thursday night then we are headed down to Eureka Springs Friday morning! Given that the bride will be receiving my undivided attention all weekend, the Farmer is staying home. He requires full supervision 24/7, therefore Dasher (the dog) has volunteered to watch after him while I'm away! Plus, Tracey is waaaay better shopping buddy! I will probably blogging when I can, but promise to share complete details when I return.

Chocolate Peanut Buddy Bars

Disclaimer: these are delicious and are in no way, shape, or form healthy....you should probably not be baking/eating these a week before you are the Maid of Honor in your World Wide Best Friend's wedding!!!! Maybe I shouldn't have gotten the dress taken in?!?!?!?

This is another one of the Farmers Momma's Bar Recipes, and there is still more where that came from! stay tuned :)

1 cup of peanut butter
6 tbsp. of softened butter
1 1/2 cups of sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup of flour
1/4 tsp. salt
12 oz. of chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl, blend peanut butter and butter until smooth. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until creamy. Blend in flour and salt. Stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips. Spread into a 9x13 pan. Bake 25-30 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Immediately sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top. Let stand 5 minutes until chocolate becomes shiny and soft. Spread evenly on top. Cool completely and enjoy :)

Tulip Festival Fun!

On Saturday, the Farmer and I went to the Tulip Festival with his family. The festival basically celebrates Dutch Heritage with parades, dancing, a carnival, and FOOD!! Yummy food! Well, I guess I should say, yummy smelling food, since I only actually ate popcorn and a snow cone. I feel like those two items were the healthiest options, and I have no explanation why...that's just the way it is :)

The tulips were everywhere and soo gorgeous!! I snapped a few of the prettiest colors!

Asher, our nephew, drove the cars....

Then the Farmer talked him into riding the Super Slide! Again..it was the Farmer's idea!! I have to tell you, I was pretty surprised that the Farmer would even entertain the idea of going on this, not that it is a big scary roller coaster or anything, but I just never thought he was the "going on rides" type of guy....guess you just never really know a person!! hehe! {Cade & August Ann- after this, I have no doubt you could get Uncle Craig to ride anything with you at Six Flags!! He is a closet amusement park fan..I just know it!!!} Adam (the Farmer's brother) and Seth decided to slide too!!
The long way up!!! Pretty sure I would have had a heart attack before I made it to the top!!

Getting ready to go down...

WEEEEeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Soo fun :)

buddies :)

Now..something a little more my style, The Carousel! Actually, none of this is really my style! I am NOT a closet amusement park fan! I do not care for them at all!! I prefer my feet on solid ground at all times, thank you very much!! Thank goodness I always have my camera to keep me busy!!

having fun!!

The Farmer confiscated my snow cone :(

Let the parade begin....one of the marching bands!! Love the wooden shoes :)

The Tulip Festival Queen and Court!

Our cousin Meredith (waving) was on the court!

The little dutch boy and the dam!!

We had such a fun day..it helped that it finally warmed up around here!! Hopefully my flowers will come back to life, so I can share some pics with you!! I am also hoping my tomato plants will bounce back from this cold spell as well. They have some sort of spots on the leaves...it could be fatal! stay tuned :)
